Qanoon Pakistan Law Reference

Free public reference · English and Urdu interface

The law of Pakistan, in your language.

Qanoon is a free, searchable public reference to Pakistani statutes. Browse available sections of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC), Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC), Code of Civil Procedure (CPC), Constitution of Pakistan, PECA and selected federal and provincial laws. Each available entry identifies its source and text-verification status, so readers can distinguish a verified transcription from material that still needs review.

The current catalogue contains 2,642 section records across 10 law codes. Coverage varies by law, and a catalogue entry is not a claim that a statute is complete or current. Use the links below to explore the published records, read the original English text available in the bundle and check the cited source before relying on it.

Browse the law codes

Start with a code or use search to look up a section number, offence or phrase. The catalogue includes the most commonly used federal codes alongside selected provincial material. Available content is shown in the app; missing or unverified content is not silently filled in.

Search and read with context

Search by section number, keywords, a plain-language description or a crime category, then open a result to see the associated law, statutory text and source citation. Qanoon also provides explanations and amendment notes where the data supports them. Each entry carries its own status: the text may be verified, automatically transcribed from an official source pending human re-check, or marked as unavailable. A missing Urdu statutory text is identified as pending rather than generated and presented as an official translation.

The educational penalty estimator uses stored statute data and is not a prediction of what a court will decide. It is intentionally designed to redirect real, pending matters to a qualified advocate or legal-aid service. It should not be used to plan a legal strategy or make decisions about a live case.

Sources, accuracy and legal limits

Qanoon cites official-source material, including Pakistan Code publications and provincial gazettes, and records the source citation with each statute entry. Automated text extraction can introduce errors, and an official source can be amended after the data bundle was prepared. Always compare the displayed text with the latest official gazette or government publication before relying on a provision. An entry’s verification label describes the record in this reference; it does not replace independent legal verification.

Qanoon is educational information, not legal advice. It does not create an advocate-client relationship, assess the facts of a real case or guarantee a legal outcome. For a specific matter, contact a licensed advocate or an appropriate legal-aid provider. Read the full sourcing and limitations notes.

A reference that can work offline

The website can be installed as a Progressive Web App. After the first online visit and successful download of the law bundle, the browser can keep the application shell and law data on the device for later offline reading and searching. Availability depends on browser storage, device settings and whether the initial download completed. The app does not require an account to browse its public reference. See the offline library guide for setup and storage controls.

Frequently asked questions

Is Qanoon a substitute for a lawyer?

No. It is a public educational reference. It cannot assess a person’s evidence, deadlines or legal position. Contact a licensed advocate for case-specific advice.

Are all texts verified and up to date?

No. Each entry displays a verification status and source citation. Some records are machine-transcribed and await a human re-check; statutes can also change. Check the latest official publication before relying on any text.

Does Qanoon provide Urdu statute text?

The interface supports English and Urdu. Official Urdu statutory text is shown only where it has been sourced; otherwise its status is marked as pending and no unofficial translation is passed off as an official text.

Can I use Qanoon without an internet connection?

After the app and law bundle have been downloaded successfully, supported browsers can retain them for offline use. New content and updates require an internet connection.
